THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS!

Exactly 30 days until our vacation to Maui!
(a picture I took from our lanai on our honeymoon in Maui)

Our Town is Meeeelllllttttiiinnng.

Don't get me wrong, Alaska is the most beautiful place I've ever been. EXCEPT when the snow is melting. Those of us that are Alaskans call it "break up" and it's slushy, brown, dirty, wet, annoying. The worst part is, the weather has been crazy so far this year -25 to +48 degrees. We are all praying for a big snow storm and fast, it's getting ugly out and we're all ready for the Iditarod! (you know the race to Nome, AK ) Ryan and I plan to continue our tradition of attending the start of the great race on Nancy Lake in Willow, AK!

A picture I found of Midtown Anchorage at night. ( This is close to Ryan's work)
This is what Alaska looks like right now.
This is the Glenn HWY. There are only a few highways in Alaska. This is THE MAIN highway for the state.
I was driving home from Anchorage to Eagle River. We live at the foothills of these mtns.
(The Chugach Mountain Range)
If you've never been to Eagle River, it is a small town 15 miles north of Anchorage.
This is main street Eagle River. We have everything here, Mtns, hiking, biking, two grocery stores (Fred Meyer, Carrs/Safeway) Walmart, 2 high schools, a handful of Elementary schools, 2 middle schools, a church on every corner, banks galore, lots of local eateries, a couple cute boutiques, and of course our favorite coffee house Jitters :)
